Over&Under Double rifle – L.Schiwy Berlin
The over-and-under double rifle, made by Ludwig Schiwy in 1928, is among the house’s most celebrated creations. Executed on a Suhl action with modified Purdey-pattern removable sidelock and fitted with three-ring Krupp barrels set into a richly figured walnut burl stock, the piece is extensively finished with deep Schiwy arabesque engraving of exceptional refinement. Renowned in connoisseur circles, it formerly belonged to Hermann Göring and was noted in its day as one of the most costly commissions undertaken by the workshop. For scholars and collectors alike it stands as a defining example of Schiwy’s interwar mastery—technically assured, highly ornate, and historically resonant.
