Double rifle – Halger Waffen
Original Historical Rifle

Double rifle – Halger Waffen Hamburg in cooperation with L. Schiwy Berlin
This double rifle, produced in cooperation with the Hamburg firm Halger Waffen, is a remarkable document of inter workshop ambition and technical innovation. Commissioned in a special and now rare calibre — the .280 Halger, a high velocity round associated with Halger’s patented conical barrels by Halbe & Gerlich — the piece pairs those distinctive barrels with Schiwy’s refined action work and decorative finish. Mechanically assured and fitted into a richly figured walnut stock, the metalwork carries careful relief and arabesque motifs in the house manner. Notably, the rifle was ordered by the German Ministry of Aviation in 1938 rather than a private patron and was never paid for; today it survives as an emblem of experimental design and the complex patronage of the period, prized by historians for both its technical singularity and its decorative excellence.
